What’s a Naturopath?
While there are many holistic health professionals today, few are rigorously trained in natural medicine. When you see a naturopathic doctor (ND) in California, you can be assured that you are under that care of a medically trained and licensed primary care doctor. Unlike conventional doctors, however, naturopaths are trained to use natural therapies as primary treatment.
Naturopathic doctors use modern diagnostic tests, a physical exam, and a thorough interview process to get a clear picture of current health concerns and their underlying causes. With all this vital information, naturopaths are then able to create a clear roadmap for healing.
Naturopathic medicine is based upon a respect for the innate self-healing power that we all have. Prescriptions are given to support and strengthen this ability, and include herbs, supplements, diet, homeopathy, counseling, exercise, and manual therapies.
Naturopathic doctors are California’s natural medicine experts.
